Trend Watch: Quilling

Have you tried quilling yet? Quilling is an art form that has been around since the Renaissance. It's dainty and intricate, and at the same time has a distinctly folksy appeal. Here at Photo Continental, we've noticed that our quilling stock is flying off the shelves! Customers can't seem to get enough of quilling, and it's no wonder why, when you look at the beautiful creations that you can create with a few strips of paper.

I think it has something to do with the abundance of slick digitally-created graphics that has bumped up the popularity of hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind artwork. I love this insert cover from The Guardian that was designed by Yulia Brodskaya, a paper artist and graphic designer.

I love this Mickey! If you're quilling a design that requires precise and accurate lines, then a lightbox is an invaluable tools to make sure you get the outline just right.

One of my favorite things about quilling is that it is not limited to cards and pages. Isn't this quilled butterfly in a jar beautiful?

This nesting doll image is really lovely. A framed piece like this would make a great gift.

Mmm... I can imagine quite a few coffee-lovers who would hang this one in their kitchen!

You can find our range of quilling tools here, and our papers here, and kits here. We also have some exciting quilling classes coming up, so watch this space for more information!

Happy quillling!
